Winona Ruth Mink Holland, 87, a peninsula resident for over 65 years, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

She was a member of Menchville Baptist Church and was also active for many years in a local Polio survivor group.  She was an elementary school teacher and teacher's aide.  She loved to crochet and sew, making lap quilts for patients going through cancer and caps for the homeless.

Survivors include her two sons, Scott Holland and his wife Cathy of Staunton, and Brian Holland and his wife Sharon of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Rachel Wetherill and her husband Jarrod of Yorktown, Ryan Holland and his wife Becca of Alexandria, Sarah "Riley" Holland of Richmond, Alaina Holland of Chesapeake and Daniel Holland of Lubbuck, TX; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, Catie, and Reagan; and one brother Andrew "Andy" Thompson Mink, Jr. of Leesburg, VA.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, James Alvin Holland.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 13, 2024 with a funeral following at 2:00 PM at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Peninsula Memorial Park.
