Virginia Sue "Ginny" Chappell, 77, of Hampton, VA, passed away June 14, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband , Ralph Chappell, Sr.; and her parents, Calvin Slone, and Opal Slone of Newport News, VA.

She is survived by her five sons, Steven Seider of Yorktown, VA,  Jimmy Seider of Eaton, OH, Randy Chappell (Heidi) of Newport News, VA , Ralph Chappell, Jr. (Alandra) of Memphis, TN, Timothy Chappell (Candy) of Portsmouth, VA; her sisters, Anna Lilley (Ben) of Yorktown, VA, Joy Putman (Terry) of Georgetown, Texas; her brother Ray Slone of Newport News, VA.  She had thirteen grandchildren whom she loved greatly, Chase, Chad, Tori, Joey, Thomas, Zach, Eric, Michael, Aurora, Nicole, Nicholaus, Erica, Evan; and  three great- grandchildren, Ellie, Lukas, and Benjamin.  She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than anything else in the world.

Ginny was an Administrative Secretary for Virginia Marine Resources Commission where she worked for more than 30 years. She enjoyed her job and the people she worked with. Ginny and Ralph were longtime members of  Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton. She sang in the Choir while Ralph was an usher for many years.

Services will be on Monday, June 24, 2024 beginning with a visitation at 1:00 PM at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home and a funeral service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, ( when a donation is made to the Alzheimer's Association a matching donation is being offered by another organization until June 30, 2024) or Liberty Live Church, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666 (please indicate in memo memorial donation for Virginia Chappell)
