Obituary

Vincent Reid Cohee passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at the age of 85. Reid was born on December 10, 1938 in Imperial Valley, California to the late William Vincent and Agatha Campbell Cohee.

Reid was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A skilled craftsman, farmer, and rancher, Reid built his family's home in northern Arizona with his own hands, transforming his high desert property into pastureland for sheep, cattle, and horses, alongside apple and other fruit tree orchards, vineyards, vegetable gardens, and stocked ponds.

Reid grew up in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from Hawthorne High School, Reid studied at El Camino College and graduated with a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Southern California. In 1959, he married Irene (Robles) Cohee and joined the global engineering and heavy construction company Bechtel. Reid and his family moved with Bechtel around the United States for more than 20 years building power plants that electrified the rapidly growing cities of the American southwest. Reid retired early and started a new chapter of his life in northern Arizona, where he helped establish the Concho Valley Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Reid and Irene later followed their children to the southeastern United Status, settling in San Antonio, Texas and Augusta, Georgia before transitioning to York County, Virginia in 2020, where they were members of Calvary Reformed Presbyterian Church in Hampton.

Along with his parents, Reid is preceded in death by his brother, Bill Cohee.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons, Lane (Cheryl) and Cord (Tina); eight grandchildren, Chase (Amy), Cale (Shaylee), Chane, Judah, Micaiah, Kate, Elisabeth, and Ezra; and four great-grandchildren, Clark, Lawson, Asher, and Adeline.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on January 3, 2024 at Calvary Reformed Presbyterian Church, 403 Whealton Road, Hampton, VA 23666.
