Timothy Scott
Davis
d. Aug 8, 2026
Timothy Scott Davis, 61, was called home to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Tim
was a lifelong Peninsula resident and had recently moved to Gloucester. For many years, Tim
and his family were faithful members of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church in Hampton, where he
served as a deacon. After moving to Gloucester, he attended Coastal Church - Gloucester.
After graduating from Bethel High School, Tim served his country in the U.S. Army 101st
Airborne Division, beginning a lifelong connection to service and aviation. He was proud of his
time in the infantry and would joke about his days in the 101st, "jumping out of perfectly good
helicopters." He continued his education at Old Dominion University, where he earned his PhD
in Mechanical Engineering.
Tim's early mechanical and aerospace engineering career shaped the foundation of the work he
loved. Across his work at NASA Langley, NADEP Norfolk, and Modern Machine & Tool, aircraft
and aviation became an important part of his life. At Fort Eustis, he settled into a career he truly
loved, working in mechanical engineering with the Technology Development Directorate. His
career was something he was genuinely passionate about and proud of. Tim's work grew from
hands-on engineering and flight testing into leadership, technical management, and advanced
research and development, eventually becoming a Branch Chief. Over the years, he became a
respected expert on many U.S. Army aviation platforms, with the Mission Enhanced Little Bird
holding a particular place in his heart. He was proud of the work he did and of the opportunity to
contribute to the people and missions he cared about. He retired from the Department of
Defense after 32 years of service, but never truly left. At the time of his passing, he was a
Senior MH-60 Mechanical Engineer with Cruz Associates, Inc., just a few doors down.
Tim loved camping, spending time with family at "the lake," and getting out on the boat. He had
a lifelong love of vehicles that began working alongside his dad at a very young age and grew
into a passion of his own, especially for his Mustang GT. He loved his trucks too ("Little Blue"
and "Big Blue"), and the things he worked on were never really "work" to him. He was always
finding something to build, fix, or improve, whether it was a playset for his grandson, "Bud Bud,"
or one of the many other projects that made their house their own. Taking care of his family
often meant putting his hands to work, one of the many ways he showed them how much he
loved them.
Tim's love for his family ran strong and deep. He was always there for the people he loved, no
matter when they needed him, how far away they were, or how long it had been since they last
called. His family was who he lived for, always at the center of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa H. Davis; two daughters, Casey Davis Scharsich of Gloucester
and Caitlyn Davis (Daniel de Marchi) of Philadelphia, PA; one sister Melissa Muehlbauer (Jim
Muehlbauer) of Hampton; one grandson Callum Scott Scharsich (who knew him as "Pops");
cousins, nieces, nephews and other family.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 6 to 7:30 PM at W. J. Smith & Son
Funeral Home, 210 Harpersville Road, Newport News. A private graveside service will be held
at a later date in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
