Terry Wayne Davenport, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on August 21, 2021, at the age of 75. He was born in Washington, NC, on May 28, 1946.

Wayne was a graduate of Newport News High School, class of 1964. He had a career in communications and worked for several companies to include C&P Telephone, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Suntrust Bank. Work took Wayne and his family to Littleton, CO, in 1994, to Wilmington, NC in 1997, and to Powhatan, VA, in 2001. In 2018, Wayne and Peggy moved back to Newport News to be closer to family. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, following politics, and attending virtual services at Olivet Christian Church.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Vennie and Asa Davenport and sister Tina Davenport.

Wayne is survived by his wife Peggy L. Davenport; his three children and their spouses, Christopher and Joella Davenport, Douglas and Eleanor Davenport, and Rebecca and Jason Thornton; grandchildren, Ethan Lease, Kristopher Davenport, Mia Thornton, and Elijah Thornton; and two siblings, Glen Davenport and Debbie Truett.
