Celebration of Life
Shirley Ann Malloy
January 16, 1948 - March 11, 2023

Shirley Ann Malloy was born in Axton, VA, on January 16, 1948, as the second oldest child of 10 to the Rev. Robert and Lillie Della Wilson. With a glad heart and selfless spirit, she helped raise her younger siblings and was often told that she was like their "second Mom." She was an amazing cook who was known for her southern style cooking and the family depended on her to help run the household at a young age. She loved her family dearly and she always carried that love with her.

As a teenager, Shirley spent her summers babysitting for her favorite aunt, Ann Taylor, in Petersburg, VA. While vacationing in Petersburg, in 1964, she met her soon-to-be husband who stopped by to meet her. Following a long distance courtship, Shirley married Ronald Ray Malloy on July 1, 1967. From this union, two beautiful children were born, Ronald Jr. and Rhonda.

In 1976, Ronald and Shirley purchased a home in the Denbigh area of Newport News, VA. When the kids went to school in this area, Shirley attended Christopher Newport College to continue her education. While there, became a Special Education and General Education teacher for the Newport News Public School System. She taught for a number of years at McIntosh Elementary School in Newport News where she met many of her close friends.

In addition to teaching, Shirley supported her husband by running a successful business at Any Imported Parts Automobile Shop on Denbigh Boulevard in Newport News. In 2002, Ronald and Shirley opened another successful business, The Malloy's Driving School and Classic Car Service, Inc., on Warwick Boulevard in Newport News. Shirley was instrumental in operating and running the school until retirement in 2019.

Visiting family, Shopping/Fashion, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and girlfriends were some of her favorites. She loved to take summer trips to Myrtle Beach with her Mom and sisters and visit her brother Jeremiah in Buffalo, New York. Shirley also loved shopping at consignment boutiques and antique shops. She collected St. John suits and Brahmin & Louis Vuitton bags. She was a collector of antique furniture, cut glass vases, and angel figurines. Her children and grandkids loved accompanying her on these shopping trips. Her grandkids, Todd Jr. (T.J.) and Taylor, affectionately called her, "MomMom" and she loved them unconditionally. She was extremely proud of the achievements made by her children and grandchildren.

Shirley was a God-fearing woman who had a friendly and gentle spirit. Over the years, she was affiliated with a few churches and she enjoyed serving as an usher before the Covid pandemic. She firmly stood on her father's favorite scripture, Psalm 121. She was a prayer warrior and prayed for anyone who discussed an issue with her. Shirley was also a huge giver. If you came to her home, you were guaranteed to leave with a gift (i.e., a purse, a figurine, an outfit, etc.) She was also known to send encouraging and uplifting messages to family and friends by text. She also enjoyed receiving similar messages from her daughter. Shirley was truly an angel on earth. (Hebrews 13:2)

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, Shirley entered into eternal peace and everlasting life with our Lord Jesus Christ and His angels with her beloved and devoted husband by her side. Her son, daughter, and granddaughter were also with her.

Shirley leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, her husband of 56 years, Ronald Malloy Sr., her loving children; Ronald R. Malloy Jr. of Newport News and Rhonda R. Malloy of Chantilly, VA; two adoring grandchildren, Todd F. Phillips, Jr. of Tysons, VA, and Taylor R. Phillips of Chantilly, VA; her beautiful mother Lillie Della Wilson of Martinsville, VA; eight loving siblings, Robert Wilson Jr. (Joanne), Rev. William Wilson (Terry) and Ethel Lee Flood (Walter) of Martinsville, VA, Jeremiah Wilson of Buffalo, NY, Roger Wilson Sr. (Judy) and Lena Jamison (Lee) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joan Stockton (Arthur) of Portsmouth, VA, Janice Hawkins (Delvon) of Littleton; the loving Malloy, Derr, and Enloe families; her loving Uncle Porcher Jr. and Aunt Ann Taylor & family of Petersburg, VA; and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her baby brother Wayne Alexander Wilson, her father Rev. Robert Wilson Sr., her sister-in-loves Margaret Smitherman and Shirely Ann Malloy, and her best friend Rosemary Graham.

Shirley Malloy was a special woman who was loved by all and she will be dearly miassed.
