Obituary

Sharon Dotson, 55, peacefully departed this life and went into the presence of the Lord in the early morning hours of February 22, 2022 at Sentara Careplex in Hampton, VA. She reflected the love of God and Jesus, her Savior, by giving generously of her time, money, and heart. She was born February 9, 1967 in Rock Hill, SC yet made Virginia her home for nearly two decades.

Sharon was vibrant, tough and feisty, and always spoke her mind. She gave generously to others regardless of her personal circumstances. She spent her life deeply devoted to her two sons who meant everything to her; had an abiding love with her twin sister; a life-long friendship with her husband of 33 years; and was the best "Aunt Sharee." Sharon loved others openly and genuinely and loved the Lord with her whole heart. She loved music which was one of her many talents. She had a passion for math, especially statistics, and enjoyed a career at Thomas Nelson Community College for several years. It was there she made lasting friendships with faculty, staff, and students. She often made quilts to give to loved ones and was an amazing pianist, looking forward to serving the Lord with her talents at Peninsula Baptist Church. She shared her love for Myrtle Beach, SC which she called her "happy place." Sharon collected memories with family and friends in her endeavor to impact the lives of all those around her. All animals were near and dear to her heart, having two dogs and three cats, as well as feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard. She loved nature, as she was named after the yellow rose of Sharon, which was her favorite flower.

Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, Madge Pressley. She is survived by her sons, Caleb and Benjamin; husband, Lt. Col. Mark Dotson; twin sister, Karen Marlow; brother, Louis Graves; brother-in-law, Michael Marlow; niece, Michelle; nephew, Stephen; and great-niece, Jenni-Mae, along with countless close friends and other loved ones. The light of Christ in her will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Peninsula Baptist Church, 4605 Cunningham Drive, Hampton.
