Obituary

It is with both heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Sarah Parker Wilde, who left this world on September 5, 2026. Born on November 27, 1973, in Newport News, Virginia, Sarah's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.

Sarah was the beloved daughter of Otis Jerome Parker, Jr. and Zatha Ann Parker, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her stepfather Douglas Barnes. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ted Wilde, with whom she shared 23 years of marriage, marked by joyous adventures and a profound connection that touched all who knew them. Sarah is also survived by her sister, Abigail Stiles, her cherished nephews -- Christian, Logan, Cullen, and Jake -- her godson, Deven -- and her godfather, Erik. Her dearest friends, Cadell, Tracy, and her companions from Mary Baldwin, affectionately referred to as her "sister squirrels," will forever hold her memory close.

A proud graduate of Mary Baldwin College, Sarah earned her Bachelor's of Liberal Arts, which she used to inspire countless young minds as an educator for over two decades. Her passion for teaching was only rivaled by her love for theatre, a love that blossomed at The Peninsula Community Theater. It was here that she wore many hats -- stage managing, acting, serving on the board of directors -- and where she met Ted, the love of her life.

Sarah's spirit was as vibrant as the ocean waves she adored at Nags Head, NC. Whether she was laughing with friends around a fire pit, tending to her garden, or finding solace in her art, Sarah brought warmth and creativity into every corner of her life. Her recent endeavor of crafting gifts and dreaming of a small business was a testament to her boundless creativity and zest for life.

Known for her infectious laughter and radiant smile, Sarah had a remarkable ability to draw people in with her stories and an even greater talent for listening to others. Her resilience was awe-inspiring, as she faced and overcame numerous health challenges with grace and determination.

In honoring Sarah's memory, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to charities that support the protection and adoption of children and small animals. They also extend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors, nurses, and home healthcare teams who provided compassionate care during her final journey, especially the staff at Riverside Regional Medical Center and Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center Mercury.

Sarah's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the stories she shared, and the love she imparted to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the light she brought into this world will never be forgotten.
