Lehman
May 2, 1945 — Feb 26, 2026
Sandra J. "Sandy" Lehman passed away peacefully on February 26, surrounded by family and friends.
Born May 2, 1945, in Columbus, Georgia, Sandy grew up in Phoenix City, Alabama. She later made her home in Virginia, where she built a long and meaningful career in the dental field beginning in 1983. A certified dental assistant, she taught dental assisting for the Newport News school system for five years. In 1995, she founded her own business providing temporary staffing services for dental offices. After thirteen successful years, she retired in 2006 to travel and enjoy life with her beloved husband. Sandy was a devoted wife to her husband, Robert "Bob" Lehman. She was a loving mother to Chris Sewell (Helen) of Tullahoma, Tennessee, and Scott Sewell (Elna) of West Point, Virginia, and a caring stepmother to Tom Lehman of North Carolina and Brian Lehman of Northern Virginia.
She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren: Patrick Sewell; Irene Sewell Thomas (Brian); Steve Sewell; Devin Sewell Yost (Carl); Dylan Sewell; and Rebekah Lehman. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Cadence Sewell, Clara Sewell, Christopher Sewell, and Conner Yost.
Sandy is also survived by her two sisters, Glenda Payne of Phoenix City, Alabama, and Christine Harris of Mobile, Alabama.
A woman of strong faith, Sandy was active at Liberty Live Church, where she loved serving others through cooking, visiting, and sending cards. She had a vibrant spirit and a love for adventure, enjoying travel, fishing, and whitewater rafting. She will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring Christian who truly lived out her faith, and whose warmth and kindness brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
A service celebrating Sandy's life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Live Church. In lieu of flowers, Sandy requested that donations be made to the Liberty Live Navajo Mission offering.
