Rochelle "Leinani" Johnson, 68, of Newport News, Virginia, formerly of Kaneohe, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026.

Rochelle was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. As the wife of a United States Marine Corps officer, she lived a life rooted in service, strength, and unwavering support for her family. Known affectionately as "Schelle," she carried a heart full of love and compassion that extended to everyone she met.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Antonio Johnson; her six children, Johanne Mitchell, Safiya Cherry, Cyehna Garrett, Briahni Atisanoe, Aiesha Williams, and Ahnakiya Johnson; and her 18 cherished grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as "Mima."

She is also survived by her father, Harry K. Kahale; her siblings, sisters Darlene, Kalei, and Ella, and brothers Kevin, Michael, Dalton, and Perry. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara M. Souza, brother Harry " Jr.", and granddaughter Zuri Rayne.

Rochelle was known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh, bringing warmth and joy to all who knew her. She was a phenomenal cook, a nurturing and devoted mother, and a steady, loving presence in the lives of her family and friends. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of her life will be held in her home state of Hawaii.

Her love lives on in all of us, and we find peace knowing she is resting in the presence of the Lord.
