Robert Jay Stearns, 90, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, died on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Bob graduated from Kent State University in 1978 with a BA in Graphic Communications and an Associates Degree in Voice. He served his country in the U.S. Marines and then the U. S. Navy. He retired as a Printer in 1993 after 47 years of service. He was a life member of VFW Post 10646 in Lakewood, Ohio. Bob was a former member of First Baptist Church, Newport News and currently was a member at Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg. In both churches he was an active choir member. He also served for 40 years in various capacities in the Cleveland Messiah Chorus; was an Eagle Scout; and served for over 40 years with the Boy Scouts of America.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Roz Stearns of Newport News; three sons, Marshall J. Stearns of Cleveland, OH, Timothy J. Stearns of Lakewood, OH, and Korey J. Stearns of Avon Lake, OH; two daughters, Sherry A. Steigerwald of Las Vegas, NV, and Tanya A. Wiles of North Ridgeville, OH; one brother; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 PM Sunday, October 31, 2021 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
