Robert Ernest Roundy, Sr. age 81, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Robert retired as a brick mason and enjoyed beekeeping, woodworking, hunting, NASCAR, participating in Civil War reenactments and doing upholstery for over 18 years. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He raised three boys, was a devoted family man and was known as Papaw to his grands.

He was preceded in death by a son Robert E. Roundy, Jr. and is survived by his wife of almost 61 years Judith Roundy; two sons, Douglas R. Roundy, Sr. (Wendy) of Gloucester and Kenneth A. Roundy, Sr. of Newton, N.C.; two brothers, Frank Roundy and George Roundy; seven grandchildren, Heather, Douglas, Jr., Helen Page, Kenneth Jr., Cynthia, Kyle Roundy (Katie) and Morganne Skinner (Asa); and five great grandchildren, Elijah, Evelyn, Lucas, Braxton and Allyson.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
