Robert Layne Hodges, 79, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Robert, better known as "Bob", is survived by his wife Linda of 55 years; his daughter Heather, her husband Greg and grandchildren, Hayden, Addison, and Harper; his son Brandon; and grandpup Gitta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierce and Marjorie Hodges; and his son Layne.

Bob took over his father's business after he passed and proudly ran and grew that business over the years. When he wasn't working he enjoyed spending time at Lake Gaston at the beautiful lake house he built with his sons. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech and always followed the football team. Over the years they had many furry friends he cherished to include Ray Ray, Duke, and Enyo. Bob truly loved his family and his memories will forever be cherished.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 Noon on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon.  Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Animal Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
