Obituary

On June 10, 2022 the Reverend Stanley S. Hicks, Jr, husband , father, "Papa", and minister's minister passed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to raise his voice in that heavenly choir. He loved the Lord, found great strength in his faith, and ministered to those around him as long as he lived. He will be greatly missed. One of the great joys of his life was having been a member of the Grammy nominated male chorus The CenturyMen for 51 years. He shared his faith through music as part of this chorus throughout the United States, Asia and Europe accompanied by his wife Carrie.

As a younger music minister he had the opportunity to serve the Lord in the Philippines through mission work musically. He served as a career Minister of Music in Baptist churches for 50 years in Virginia, Texas and Oklahoma. Outside of music, he enjoyed building and woodworking, and the outdoors.

Born in Newport News, Virginia, Stan was 83 years young, a graduate of Warwick High School in Warwick Virginia. He went on to earn an Associate Degree from Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia, a Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma Baptist University, and a Master of Church Music from The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Stan is survived by his wife of 62 years Carrie; his son Troy Hicks; daughter-in-law Sandra; granddaughters Emmalynn & Madelynn; daughter Tracey Ferencsik; son-in-law Brooke; granddaughter Grace; sister Patricia Alston; sister-in-law Betty Howell; nephew Raymond Howell, Jr. and nieces Rendy Dickinson and Emily Hoffman.

A celebration of his life will take place at 2:30 PM on Friday, June 17, 2022 followed by a reception at Walnut Hills Baptist Church, 1014 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to one of the following: Healthwell Foundation, Samaritan's Purse, or Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg, VA.
