Pauline Joyce
Wharton
d. Jun 6, 2023
On the day of Tuesday, June 6th, 2023 our beloved wife and mother, Pauline Joyce Wharton fell asleep in death.
Pauline was born on April 14, 1949 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Thomas and Hazel Dailey. She lived her childhood in Chepachet, Rhode Island and moved to Yorktown, Virginia in 1966, graduating from York High School in 1968. While attending school she was captain of the gymnastics team and a member of the art club.
Pauline married her high school sweetheart William Tyler Wharton, Jr. in 1968. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past January.
She was introduced to the truth in 1972 and baptized as a Jehovah's Witness at the Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1973. She would continue to serve Jehovah faithfully for 50 years until her passing.
For secular work, Pauline was a Realtor for 16 years and then the Office Manager for Wharton Construction Co., Inc. until her retirement.
Her enjoyments included vacationing to the mountains, sunning at the beaches, reading novels but most of all spending time with her family.
Pauline was a loving mother to her three children, William Tyler Wharton, III (Sheila), Amy Irene Wharton (David) and Aaron Christopher Wharton (Hope). She was also an adoring Grammy to Adam, Emma, Christian, Aislynn, David, Gabriel and loved her twelve great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Dailey; mother Hazel Dailey; siblings, Thomas Dailey, Jr., Charles Dailey, Patricia Lallier, Robert Dailey, George Soule, Byron Soule; and her daughter Amy.
On numerous occasions, she maintained her love, commitment and loyalty to Jehovah, often standing her ground to health professionals when asked to compromise her faith for the sake of her health. She never did and Jehovah continued to bless her loyalty. She maintained her integrity down to the end, fully assured of Jehovah's promise to call her from the memorial tomb (John 5:28,29) and when she awakens never being sick again (Isa. 33:24). She was confident that this day was just around the corner.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 717 Little Back River Road, Hampton. A repass will immediately follow the service at Fox Hill Neighborhood Center, 65 Hall Road, Hampton.
The memorial service may be watched via Zoom by using Meeting ID Number 82348427582 and Passcode: paradise
