Nickie DeGarmo joined her Lord and Savior on January 30, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She fought a difficult battle for several years and is now able to rest peacefully in the hands of Jesus.

Nickie is survived by her husband Robert Giles, two sons Darious Giles and George Giles; a step-son Keith Giles; her mother Charlotte DeGarmo; two sisters Sandra Mishoe (Eric Mishoe) and Rebecca DeGarmo (Quincy Hardy); uncle Garry Batts, Jr. (Jacqueline Batts); a granddaughter Summer Giles and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Nickie was proceeded in death by her father, George DeGarmo; maternal grandparents (Garry Batts, Sr. and Jennie Batts), and paternal grandparents (George DeGarmo and Hazel DeGarmo) .

The family would like to especially thank Kelly Hinton, Nickie's lifelong best friend for the ongoing support and care she provided to Nickie and the family. I don't know what we would do without you! The family would also like to acknowledge Sentara Hospice and Sentara Home Health for the excellent care they provided.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home from noon-1:00 PM followed by funeral service at 1 PM. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
