Mary Ann
Taber
d. Jan 23, 2022
After a long and courageous battle with many cancers, Mary Ann Taber, 63, beloved mother and wife, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2022 in her home in Newport News, Virginia. She was born on March 3,1958 in Gaporlos, Eastern Samar, Philippines.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 32 years, Scott A. Taber; son Ivan S. Taber (Vanessa); daughters, Ivy R. Alvarez (Jennifer) and Ashley L. Taber (Brian); sisters, Anita Osborn (James), Lilia Cajipo (Emmanuel), and Eliza Lacdao (Rogelio); grandchildren, Raysean Williams, Selena Taber, Haydn Fillion, Oliver Atlas Hinkel, Elliot Wolfe Hinkel, and a granddaughter to be.
She is predeceased by both parents, Modesto and Fortunata Alvarez; and sister Paz Pestilos (Romulo).
Mary Ann was a woman of many talents. She could tell a sapphire from tanzanite or a ruby from a garnet. She could flawlessly make you a double tiered macrame plant hanger. She could wow you with her artistic talents and leave you with gaping mouth at a simple sketch. She had a green thumb and meticulously executed her landscaping. She could elevate the atmosphere in your home. She always left you craving her cooking and wanting to know her "secrets".
Mary Ann was an intellect. She studied political science, horticulture, and nursing. She was always up to date and passionate about current political affairs. She had her fascinations with celebrities, chefs, artists, and musicians. Enjoyed games and puzzles. She loved music. She loved the ocean, margaritas, long drives, and sappy cards.
Mary Ann was dynamite packed tiny. All that she was could never have a summary. She was funny. She was stunning. Her lust for life was unmatched. She had courage. Afraid of little. A fighter till the end. Forgiving. She was guided by a balance of heart and head. Her tokens of generosity were far reaching, spanning her home kitchen to feed her children's friends to her family in the Philippines. She was a caregiver to many. The lives she touched is immeasurable. The strength of her spirit is an inspiration and a wonder to behold. And, my God, was she fun.
She loved her husband and children with the whole of her heart. Adored her grandchildren. Hated Trump. She would want that written.
