Mary R. Dixon, 96, died Tuesday, October 13, 2026. She was a native of Washington, NC, and had been a peninsula resident since 1949. She retired from The Judge Advocate’s Office, United States Air Force at Langley AFB, VA, on April 1, 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Women on Mission, and the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton E. Dixon, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Cecil of Washington, NC.

Survivors are her children: John Q. Dixon of Charlotte, NC; Christopher Mark Dixon and his wife, Lori, of Winchester, VA; Todd Alan Dixon and his wife, Monette, of Yorktown, VA; one daughter, Linda Susan Dabney of Ocean Springs, MI; nine grandchildren:Nichole, Kelly, Michael, Heather, Christopher, Kaitlin, Brittany, Daniel, and Kristina and six grandkids: Hadley, Quinton, Ronan, Kiera, Harliegh, and Hayden.

A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 12716 Warwick Blvd. Newport News at 2:00 pm, October 20, 2026 with burial following in Peninsula Memorial Park.
