Mary Roberson Collins, 79 years old, passed away on January 2, 2026.  Mary was a resident of Newport News for 72 years and a lifelong member of Temple Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker and a family caregiver.

She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Wilson (Kevin), Susan Mullins (Roy); two granddaughters, Katherine Ashley Wilson and Mary Kennedy Wilson, her sister Anna Jenkins and 3 nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents Archie T. and Marie Roberson, her sister Carolina Roberson, and her husband William W. Collins.

She enjoyed decorating, fashion, art, history, celebrating, and spoiling her grandchildren. Mary was also a passionate member of The Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities as well as the Women's Club of Newport News.

A special thank you to all caregivers, providers and social workers, both past and present, who took care of her the last 8 years.

There will be a visitation at W. J. Smith and Son Funeral Home from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 7th, 2025. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 P.M. on January 8th, 2025, also at W. J. Smith and Son Funeral Home. A burial will follow immediately at 1:00 at Peninsula Memorial Park.
