Obituary

Margaret "Ann" Walls went to meet her Lord and Savior on March 7, 2024.  Ann was a resident of Hampton/Newport News and a longtime member, over 45 years, of  Liberty Live Church, Hampton.  In December 2017 she moved to Tuscaloosa AL to be with her 2 daughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Walls.  Survivors include her two daughters, Terri Flowers Cox  (Garry) of Tuscaloosa, AL and Tanya Eason (David) of Gordo, AL; five grandchildren,  Brian Flowers of Midland, TX, Lorrie Flowers of Austin, TX, Benjamin Flowers (Merrill) of Hoover, AL, Hope Wyatt (Josh) of Moundville, AL and Faith Eason of Gordo, AL; and she was blessed with 3 great grands, Emmaline, Clara, and Trey.

At age 18 she met the one true love of her life, Bill, a young airman at Shaw Field, Sumter, SC the local AFB. Once married, he and Roonie, his pet nickname for her, embarked on a journey together that took them from Germany to Japan, California to Virginia with stops along the way in Louisiana and Hawaii.  They made great friends along the way, and two families in particular, the Pollan's and O'Connell's, were so close they all retired together in the Hampton/Newport News area to finish raising their families.
In a time when women were just making their way into the workplace, Ann successfully ran a pool Life Guard service for multiple apartment complexes, that gave many young people their first job experiences.  She was demanding, ran a tight ship and taught her young employees invaluable lessons about hard work and responsibility.

Ann and Bill shared a passion for all things water and beach related. Together they served for years with the American Red Cross as Water Safety Instructors, teaching a generation of life guards who were equipped to save the lives of countless swimmers in distress

But now they're back together, a team again.

As a short conclusion – Ann was having the time of her life at the assisted living complex, The Crossings at North River, Tuscaloosa AL, and on Saturday morning, March 2nd, she was playing corn hole with her friends.  As a family we were going out to dinner and while driving, laughing and talking – she suffered a massive fatal stroke.  One of our best memories was when she took her last breath we had playing in the background "Sweet Beulah Land".

Since she is being laid beside Bill in Hampton Memorial Gardens, and the family is not available at this time – a Celebration of Life will be held in the near future at Liberty Live Church. Hampton.  The date will be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, we do welcome donations to be made to Circlewood Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, AL, Liberty Live Baptist Church, Hampton VA, the Hospice of West Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL or your favorite non-profit organization.
