Obituary

Maggie Lee Madson, 93 years of age, entered the gates of Heaven on November 14, 2021 surrounded by her five daughters and immediate family. Maggie was a native of Farmville, North Carolina and was born to Paul and Captolia Stepps. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Lewis N. Madson Jr.; two sisters, Dora Mae Little and Verna Heath; and great-grandson Nathanial Good.

Moving to Newport News, Virginia in 1958, Maggie retired from the Newport News Juvenile and Domestic Court after many years of service. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, cooking and baking. She loved to have everyone over to socialize and especially laugh. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church where she served for many years. Her faith and love of her Lord was apparent in everything she did. She loved others and many people loved her. No one could ask for a more loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother or friend.

Maggie is survived by her five daughters, Carolyn Pinckard of Virginia, Linda Owens of Virginia, Brenda Rider (Ronny) of North Carolina, Janice Williams (Harry) of Virginia, Vicki Carr (Dan) of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Along with her immediate family, she will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.

With respect to the ongoing pandemic, a private family service will be held on November 18, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church and Peninsula Memorial Park. Should you wish to honor our mother's memory, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church, 235 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Virginia 23601.
