Madalene Smith Melvin passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024 at 96 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, Canady Americus Smith, Sr. and Marie Beard Smith, and husband, Kenneth Warren Melvin.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim Trader (Parker), Cynthia Brauer (Gregory), and Sharon Bohn (Jerald); her grandchildren, Reed Bohn (Robert) and Toby Bohn (Jakob); and great-grandchildren Lawrence ("Wren") and Ramona. Also left to cherish her memory are brothers, Dwight Smith (Faye), Herman Smith (Flossie), Rabon Smith; and sister Evalene Hicks.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. Her passing, like her life, was on her own terms.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 28, 2024 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Burial will be private.
