Obituary

Lois (Ziegler) Fisher, 95, of Harrisonburg, VA, formerly of Newport News, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 16, 2026. Lois was born to William Abraham Ziegler and Mattie Rohrer Wenger on September 7, 1930 in Columbiana, OH. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife, and she was a cherished member in each of the communities she lived.

During her life, Lois was a member of Warwick River Mennonite Church (54 years) and Lindale Mennonite Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship of friends and family. Lois' devotion to Jesus was the center of her life. She had a special gift for listening to and encouraging others. Lois stayed connected with her life-long friends, and engaged with new friends of all ages by welcoming college students to meals and games. Later in life, Lois lived at VMRC in Harrisonburg, VA and enjoyed the company of her friends residing there. She welcomed many visitors, provided engaging conversation, shared homemade treats, and played games.

Lois enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, bird watching, vegetable and flower gardening, baking, cooking, and singing. She was loving, joyful, caring and served others; her legacy and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Lois is survived by four of her children, Raymond Alderfer, Twila Blume, James Alderfer (Karen), and Rachel Fields (Loren); her five grandchildren: Karen Martin (Dan), William Alderfer, Sarah Weaver (Jesse), Stephen Alderfer (Alicia), and Erich Alderfer (Gabi); and six great grandchildren: Micah, Levi, Finn, Ruby, Benjamin, and Forrest. In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her youngest son, David Alderfer, her beloved grandson, Derek Blume, husbands, Richard Alderfer and Ralph Fisher, brothers, Ralph Ziegler and Kenneth Ziegler, and sister, Esther Fisher.
