d. Jun 24, 2026
YORKTOWN
Linda DeShazo Hatchett, age 79 of Yorktown, Virginia passed away on June 24, 2026 in her husband's loving arms at Riverside Hospital.
She was born on April 14, 1947 in Newport News where she grew up. She went to Newport News High School where she met and eventually married her high school sweetheart David Ross Hatchett on July 1, 1967.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years David Hatchett; her son Stephen (Christy) Hatchett; her grandchildren Ashlynn and Corbin Payne, Raelynn, Josiah, Frankie, and Fabian Hatchett. Her siblings Janet DeShazo and Charles DeShazo III, and her brother in law Barry (Patsy) Hatchett and numerous family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles E. DeShazo Jr. and Eleanor Douglas DeShazo; her in-laws Henry and Frances Hatchett; brother in law Ronald Hatchett Sr., and nephew Ronald Hatchett Jr.
Linda was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and nana. She loved unconditionally and carried the hope of Jesus with her as she lived her life. Linda never met a stranger and would make a friend everywhere she went. She devoted herself to her family and garden, her favorite things were to pick her favorite flowers and have David plant them wherever she wanted. They worked so well together. She enjoyed watching how God would grow their garden into something beautiful and could share with others. She enjoyed baking and sewing and used her talents to draw others to her. Her radiant smile and soft words of encouragement will be greatly missed.
