Linda Marie Covington Walters, age 71, of Newport News, VA, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

Born to Richard and Lillian Covington on February 25, 1951, Linda was a lifelong resident of Newport News. She graduated from Warwick High School - Class of 1969. Linda was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church and later at Orcutt Baptist Church. She worked for several years in retail sales at Montgomery Ward, followed by working in customer service supporting companies such as GE and UPS.

Earlier in life, Linda participated in the local art scene. She displayed her paintings and silk screen prints at many of the local art shows. She enjoyed being around other artists. She made lifelong friendships which was not hard with her outgoing personality. Linda also liked going to the local festivals, including Harborfest in Norfolk each summer, along with attending concerts at The Dome in VA Beach.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lillian Covington. She is survived by her sister, Betty Champion (Dennis); nieces, Andrea Champion and Lilly Adcock (Eddie); 2 great-nephews, Jacob and Carson Adcock; aunts, Emma Blake and Eva Patterson of North Carolina; former husband Tony Walters of 10 years; and many cousins and friends in Virginia and North Carolina.

Visitation will be at 11 AM on Friday, July 15, 2022, followed by the funeral service at 12 PM at W. J. Smith and Son Funeral Home, 210 Harpersville Road. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
