Lillian Lenora Miller, age 97, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2025. She was born March 21, 1928 in the Warwick River Mennonite Colony of Denbigh, Virginia. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest C. Miller and Anna Lenora Mast Miller, brothers Edward and John, sister Cora Stuzman, and friend Ruth Lantz. She is survived by brothers Ernest C. Lillian graduated from Morrison High School in Warwick County in the class of '45. At The Leigh Memorial Hospital she completed one year of Practical Nursing in 1955. After that she worked as Executive Secretary at Christopher Newport University until retirement.
Lillian loved to write and took writing courses at Christopher Newport College to hone her skills. She leaves behind a plethora of stories, poems and a book co-written with Esther Mable Yoder on Miller family history. In 1987 she attended a writers conference at Christopher Newport College and won first place in non fiction.
Lillian also enjoyed traveling and has many photograph albums to show for a lifetime of travel in the US and Europe. In her later years she traveled with the Pleasant Peasants; a local group of eight friends and family members. The last twenty five years of her life was spent at Mennowood, then Newport News Nursing and rehabilitation Center and finally at her brother's home on Hertzler Road in Newport News.
