Leila Wheeler Collins, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026. She was a native of Georgia and had been a resident of York County since 1959. Leila was employed by the York County School System as a teacher and was a long time member of Seaford Baptist Church. She was a worldly traveler. She made multiple trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii.

Survivors include her loving husband, Mel Collins, Sr.; eight children: Marty Martin and his wife Mary Ann, Vee and her husband Doug Baggett, Wes Martin (deseased), Mitch Martin, Becky Truston, Katherine Collins, Tommy Collins, Jr. (Patty) and Sue and her husband Tim Shekoski; sisters: Margaret Marchman (deceased), Caroline Yearwood, Eloise Newton and niece Kathy Morris; eight grandchildren: Lindsay Sterchi (Tyler), Cory Martin (Jennifer), Will Baggett (Lyndsey), Collin Shekoski (Alayna), Austin Shekoski (Christian), Logan Shekoski (Tayloe), and Christopher Southers (Kyra).

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Seaford Baptist Church followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
