Obituary

Larry Martin Daniels entered into the presence of the Lord the afternoon of February 5th, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born in 1948 in Oakland, CA to Arvis and Monna Darene Daniels, Larry spent his early years in California, Florida, and Kentucky. He graduated from Fairview High School in Ashland, KY, in 1966; and in 1969 he married his high school sweetheart, Debbie. He was diligent, hard working and accomplished in life and career.

He loved his country and served faithfully in the military for 22 years and retired in 1988 as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. As a civilian, he continued working with the Navy as a defense contractor with Eldyne and Raytheon. He finished out his career, retiring as a program manager at L3 Harris Unidyne, Inc. in 2019.

Larry was a devoted follower of Christ, serving as a deacon for more than 30 years at Great Neck Baptist Church and Tabernacle Baptist church, following his move from Virginia Beach to Newport News. He also loved to sing and spent many years singing in the church choir, praise team and in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Living Christmas tree. He is rejoicing in heaven, knowing he will no longer be poked by those scratchy branches.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful follower of Christ, Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Debbie Daniels, of Newport News, VA as well as daughters Juliann (Wes) Taylor of Newport News, Larissa (Rich) Holland of Goodyear, Arizona. He was a treasured Papaw to his 7 grandchildren, Emily, Lauren, Martin, Aaron, GraceAnn, Jonathan, and Rosalie. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Trimble of Cory, Pennsylvania. Also left to cherish his memory are many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Paul Daniels.
