Obituary

Kay Weeks Chellis went home to Jesus on April 25, 2021, at age 75. She was born to the late James and Bertha Weeks on May 18, 1945 in Clinton, North Carolina; as a child, her family moved to Newport News, Virginia. Kay met her husband, M. Wayne Chellis in 1960 at a dance; married September 9, 1961, and went on to have two children, Michael and Tina.

In addition to being a loving mother, Kay was also a remarkable grandmother. She was an exceptional cook and antiquities collector. She always stayed true to her convictions and was outspoken about the difference between right and wrong. On every occasion she gave an example of a strong work ethic, even insisting on working while she was sick. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

In addition to her parents James and Bertha, Kay was preceded in death by her brother Patrick, and her sister Joyce. She is survived by her husband Wayne; her children, Michael and his wife, Susy, and Tina and her partner, Rick; her grandchildren, Melody, Melissa, James, Michael, Phillip, Sarah, Lori and Andrew; and her ten great
grandchildren.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6.
