Katie Elizabeth Harper died peacefully on January 8, 2021 in Newport News, VA surrounded by her family who loved her dearly.

She was born September 16, 1918 in the Fox Hill section of Hampton, VA to the late Charles Marius and Annie Mae Hovey. Katie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles Lambert Harper, her daughter Judith Anne Harper and her sister Rebecca Johnson Elliott. She is survived by her son Charles Lambert Harper Jr. and his wife Jennifer, her daughter Elizabeth Harper Parisher and her five wonderful grandchildren, Charles Lambert Harper III and his wife Stephanie, James Stephen Todd Harper and his wife Aimee, Katie Anne Oakley and her husband David, James Daniel Parisher Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, Judith Harper Skalski and her husband Matthew; eight great- grandchildren, Cassidy and Chaz Harper, Emily and David Oakley, Vaughan and Lucy Parisher, Caroline and Jack Skalski.

Katie was a past member of the Hilton Village Women's Club, James River Garden Club and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Newport News, VA. She lived a rich and full life. She was generous and considerate, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend during her lifetime. One of her greatest loves was spending time with her family at her beach cottage in Nags Head, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, January 13 at Peninsula Memorial Park. A special thank you to all The Huntington at The Newport staff for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to Katie.
