Nita Brumfield, 90 years old of Newport News, finally went home to be with her Lord, family members, friends and her beloved husband, Bobby Lee on Sunday, December 19, 2021.

Nita was born April 25, 1931, in Pittsylvania County, VA. She was one of eleven born to Norman O. Wright and A. Dorine Davis. Nita outlived all her siblings. She was married on October 31, 1949, to Bobby Lee Brumfield. One of Nita's passions was golfing, especially with her husband. Many hours were spent on the golf course. Another passion was her dedication to serving the Lord with a smile on her face. As a charter member of Menchville Baptist Church, she served in various capacities including the choir, which she loved.

Nita is survived by a daughter, Pat Cropper and her husband Bob of Southern Shores, NC; a son Brian Brumfield of Nags Head, NC. Nita was blessed with five grandsons'; Ron Rogers and his wife Maria of Klamath Falls, OR., Justin Cropper and his fiancé Ginny Sowers of Richmond, VA., Jason Brumfield (deceased), Todd Brumfield of Gloucester, VA., and Alex Brumfield of Nags Head, NC. Many loving friends and nieces tried to keep up with Nita, which was challenging at times. Nita was always smiling with a twinkle in her eyes for everyone she met.

One of her joys was Mondays with her grandson Ron playing his ukulele and singing to her. She had a special place in her heart for Pat's dog, Gizmo. He would sit on her lap and while she was sick, he would wait beside her bed wanting to comfort her.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday January 6, 2022, at Menchville Baptist Church, 248 Menchville Road, Newport News, VA 23602. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim Weston officiating. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park on Warwick Blvd., Newport News.
