Beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend, Joyce MiYong Freeman, 82, of Yorktown, VA has passed away to join our heavenly father in the evening on February 5, 2025, after her battle with Dementia/Alzheimer's.

The sun rose and the world welcomed her April 30, 1942, a day the world became a little brighter. Joyce lived a full and warm life filled with joy. If she wasn't doing one of her two passions, gardening with her flowers or cooking for her family, you could always find her involved at her church, the International Southern Virginia Church. Joyce was a blessing to all the lives that she touched with smiles and laughter.  She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Joyce is survived by her two children, H. JoAnne Traina and Joseph R. Smith; her son-in-law Charles J. Traina; her daughter-in-law Hope Smith; her grandson Ryan D. Abrams; and her family back home in South Korea.  She was preceded in death by her husband of over 20 years, Eugene A. Smith; and again by her second husband of almost 5 years William C. Freeman.

There will be a time of visitation at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home on February 13, 2025, from 6-7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Hampton Memorial Gardens on February 15, 2025, at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family would ask that you make donations to the International Southern Virginia Church (13246 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA 23602) on her behalf and/or share your favorite memories of her.
