Joseph Robert Fabula, Jr. was born on March 5, 1943 and passed away on December 3, 2022 at age 79 of cancer at his home in Gloucester, Virginia.

After high school Joe joined the Army and proudly spoke of his experiences while serving his country. He then became a police officer for the city of Newport News where he spent 33 years devoted to serving the community. After retiring he continued to share his extensive knowledge as an instructor at The Marksman. Joseph is survived by his wife Jane Van Noy Fabula; his son Joseph Bradley Fabula, Sr. and his wife Dana Catt Fabula; grandson Joseph Bradley Fabula, Jr.; granddaughter Karri Myers; his sister Kathleen E. Smith and brother Robert J. Fabula; brothers-in-law John R. Van Noy and Mark T. Van Noy;cousins, aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews. To all his friends "thank you" for recognition of a life well spent.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd in Suffolk, VA 23434. Flowers should be sent to W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Newport News. Any expressions of sympathy to be sent to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society in honor of Joe's love for dogs.
