Joann B. Taylor, 85, of Newport News, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Born in Lee County, VA, she was predeceased by her husband, Gene W. Taylor, and her parents, William Jennings Bryan Bailey and Alka Robinson Bailey.

Joann had several careers over the years. Her favorite was managing the University Square Apartments across from Christopher Newport University. She became a friend to many students who lived there, often staying in touch with them years later.

Joann is survived by her son John Robertson and his wife Nancy of Portsmouth; her two grandsons, Sean Robertson (Corinne) of Bowling Green, VA and Brian Robertson (Danielle) of Virginia Beach, both always brought a sparkle to her eyes; and two great-grandchildren, Pierce and Rosey.

The family would like to thank the staff of Walter Reed Convalescent Center and Virginia Health Services for their attentive care over the past several years.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 13, 2021 in Peninsula Memorial Park. Due to COVID-19 restrictions masks and social distancing will be required.
