Joann Fern Sampson, 89, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024. Joann was born February 26, 1935, to Basil and Elizabeth Childress in Elkhorn Kentucky. She was the last of 10 living siblings (6 girls and 4 boys). She was a devote follower of Christ from an early age and faithfully served the Lord for over 75 years. She served the Lord in many capacities including Bible studies, nursing home and jail ministries, children ministries, and leading the Faith builder's ministry at World Outreach Worship Center formerly Denbigh Church of God. Under her leadership many souls were saved and changed for the Glory of God.

She was preceded in death of her husband Frank L. Sampson and is survived by two daughters, LeeAnn Moller and her husband Chris, Rose Lewis and her husband James all of Newport News; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday Jan. 3, 2025, with funeral service immediately following, both at World Outreach Worship Center 1233 Shields Rd, Newport News, VA, 23608. Burial will be following the service at Peninsula Memorial Park 3:00 PM. Pastor Russell Evenson and Norman Rush, Sr. will be officiating the services.
