It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan P. Scott, 83, of Newport News, VA.  Joan was born July 21, 1942 and passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Wallace Branch, Sr. and Gladys P. Branch, her brother Stephen Branch and sister-in-law Carol Branch and her brother Walter Wallace Branch, Jr.
Joan graduated Warwick High School and while spending time at Buckroe Beach Amusement Park met her husband of 63 years, Herman Scott.  They were married in 1962.  Joan worked for C&P Telephone before having her first born son.  She then became a homemaker when her next son was born until the family business opened in 1977 where she worked as bookkeeper and title clerk.  She also worked part time as a title clerk at various auto auctions.
Joan loved to bowl, read books, do crosswords, find a word puzzles. and watch "ABC World News Tonight with David Muir".
Joan is survived by her husband, Herman, sons David (Linda), Kevin (Dawn), three grandsons, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Nancy Branch.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Joan's name to your favorite animal rescue society as she could not stand to see animals abused. (ASPCA)  The family would like to send sincere thanks and appreciation to staff: At Home Care and Hospice, especially Tabitha, Debbie, and Reverend Rick.
A graveside service will take place Monday September 29, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Peninsula Memorial park to honor Joan's life.
