Jeanette Hinton Rowe, 92, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on May 23, 2026. She was born August 24, 1933, in Johnson County, North Carolina.

A graduate of Campbell College, Jeanette worked as a secretary at the Amoco Refinery in Yorktown, Newport News Shipbuilding, and Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in many capacities. She was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church in Yorktown, Virginia, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Woman's Missionary Union director. She loved to travel and cherished her family above all else, always putting her husband, children, and loved ones first. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone she met.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Leon Rowe, and her brothers Jack Hinton and Kenneth Hinton.

Jeanette is survived by her children Pam Gemmill (Robert Gemmill), Tim Rowe (Angela Rowe), and Tommy Rowe (Cheryl Rowe); grandchildren Daniel Rowe (Matt Kasin), Brian Rowe, Kelly Gemmill (Dylan Boorman), Jon Gemmill (Nikkie Howe), and Jessie Swanson (Josh Murdock); great-granddaughter Rori Murdock; and brother Hugh Hinton.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church at 1004 Yorktown Rd, Yorktown, Virginia, 23693 at 1 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
