Jamey Elizabeth Douglas Bacon of Newport News Va. passed away January 30, 2025. She is survived by her son C. Brian Bacon (Susie), her grandchildren Madison and Spencer, sister Jeanne Douglas Adams (Danny), nieces Michelle Rippey (Scott) and Dana Adams, great nieces Audrey, Kathryn, and Sarah and so many special friends, neighbors, classmates and fellow church members who were instrumental in helping her live independently for the last several years.  Jamey's family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to each and every one of you.

She is preceded in death by her parents Eugene Oren and Mary Leila Douglas.Jamey was a lifelong resident of Hilton Village and a longtime member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Jamey completed one year at Warwick High School before transferring to Newport News High School, graduating in 1966.  Once completing business school, she worked for Thompson Ford and then Bowditch Ford for many years before pursuing a career in nursing.  After earning her degree in Nursing from Thomas Nelson Community College, Jamey spent the remainder of her career working the Mother/Baby floor at Riverside Regional Medical Center.   She also babysat for so many in the community, gaining lifelong friends of the parents and their now grown children.  Jamey always loved the babies and children so this was a highlight in her life.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 45 Main Street, Newport News, Virginia 23601.

The family will receive family and friends in the church reception hall following the services.

A special thank you to St. Andrews and its congregation for embracing Jamey and allowing her to worship, connect with old friends, and have an opportunity to socialize near her home.  This meant the world to her and to the family.
