Hurl Richard Westfall, Sr. "Hess", 61, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 surrounded by his family. Hurl fought a courageous battle with lung cancer. Hurl was a quiet man who loved his family, friends and cars. He could fabricate, assemble, paint; he could fix anything. There was nothing he loved more than building a car from start to finish. He loved all old cars and motorcycles but Camaro's were his favorite. To say he owned too many to count is an understatement.

Hurl is survived by his wife of forty years, Jamice B. Westfall; his sons, Hurl R. Westfall, Jr. and wife Jessica, Justin B. Westfall; his beloved grandson Jayce Chandler Westfall; his brothers, Eddie Cleck and wife Pam, and Jack Westfall and wife Lynn; sister Jackie McGlothlin and husband Billy; and his fur babies, Bailey and Bear. He was preceded in death by his son Thomas Christopher Westfall and infant son Matthew Westfall; his parents, Jack and Helen Westfall; sister Ruby Lowrie; and mother-in-law Norma G. Boyd.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Virginia Oncology, Dr. Scott Kruger, and Dr. Samuel Jones for the care and support they provided.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Thursday, October 14, 2021 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 15, 2021 at Fox Hill Road Baptist Church with Pastor Nathan Cecil officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
