Heide Christa Copeland, 63, a resident of Hampton, died on Friday, August 16, 2019. She was a designer at Newport News Shipbuilding for 30 years. Heide attended First Presbyterian Church in Hampton and enjoyed gardening, cooking and bird watching.

Survivors include her mother, Marga M. J. Grosse; her husband, William M. Copeland, Sr.; children, Josh Lawson, Amanda Lawson, Lindsey O'Brien, Paige Tabbert, and William M. Copeland, Jr.; grandchildren, Alexis Strickland, Ale'yana Lawson, Armon McGill, Ellen Tabbert, Ava O'Briend, Adam Tabbert, Jr., Grayson O'Brien, Blake Lawson and Kai Copeland; and her brothers, Ingo Grosse, Ralph Grosse, and Mark Grosse.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM Friday, August 23, 2019 at the American Legion Post 368 in Newport News.

A second service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, August 24, 2019 at her church, First Presbyterian Church in Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to First Presbyterian Church, 514 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23669.
