Greg began his working career early on as a local paper boy for the Daily Press and The Times-Herald. He was very active in his church sport group teams, and served in his church while attending with family. He graduated from Newport News High School in 1964. Through the next formative years, he took up travel and camping with friends. He enjoyed taking pictures during those travels of architecture, ships, and his friends. While searching for the right career path, he chose the Commonwealth of Virginia Pipe Fitters Apprenticeship Programming in 1967. That year he also joined the Pi Sigma Phi Fraternity, Beta Chapter. He was certified in 1971. He also enrolled in the Newport News Shipyard & Dry Dock Companies apprenticeship program in 1968 and was certified in 1972,. Through the next couple of years Greg worked at several naval architectural design companies where he got to do what he loved. He did return to Newport News Shipyard in 1988, as a pipe designer, where he got to witness one of the greatest technological transformations in industry history for the next 23 years. When he finally decided to retire in 2011 at the age of 65, Greg spent the majority of his retirement doing what he enjoyed most, vacation trips with friends, enjoying family gatherings, going to every food & music festival / event in the surrounding areas, and very rarely did he miss a night of brewskies with his friends at Cozzy's Comedy Club and Buddy's Hideaway.
