Obituary

Gregory "Greg" Geisert passed away peacefully in the early hours on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the age of 72. Greg's unwavering devotion to the Lord was a testament to his steadfast faith during the past year after an unfortunate fall.
A native of Ogallala, NE and a die-hard Cornhusker fan, Greg was born on December 27, 1952, to Harry LaVerne Geisert and Margaret "Luanne" Spencer Geisert. He completed his elementary, middle, and high school years in Ogallala and went on to receive his Associate's Degree in design from North Platte Community College in North Platte, NE.
In 1974, Greg successfully completed the requirements of the Emergency Medical Technician-Ambulance training for the State of Nebraska. When he moved to Kansas, he once again became certified and registered as an Emergency Medical Technician serving on the volunteer EMS and Fire Departments in the city of Hesston, KS. He later moved to the Wichita area and Derby, KS; where he continued to be involved with the Sedgwick County EMS serving as Director of the Volunteer EMS in Derby through 2003, while working full-time a Boeing for 20 years. When a layoff happened, Greg took a designer position at Huntington Ingalls in Newport News, VA in April of 2004. He retired in August of 2024. His enjoyment of design lead him to create EMS patches as well as wood and stained glass projects.
On December 31, 1994, during New Year's Eve service at Faith Lutheran Church in Derby, KS, Greg married his special love and best friend, Marcia Eberhardt-Stroud. For the past 30 years, Greg and Marcia have devoted their lives to serving God, each other and their children, grandchildren and great-grandsons.
A committed follower of Jesus Christ, Greg's faith has always been an important part of his life. He sang in the choir, served as an elder and head elder, usher, led a small group bible study and ministered to doctors, nursers, aides, etc. during his hospital and rehab stays this past year. Over the years, Greg could be found cooking breakfast for Second Saturday Serve, offering rides to church for college students at CNU, visiting those in the hospital or homebound and always the first to offer help wherever it was needed. You could always count on Greg for a good "Dad Joke" and a good laugh.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Luanne Geisert and Father-in-law, Galen Eberhardt.
Greg is survived by his wife, Marcia, son Bryan Geisert (Susy) of Honolulu, HI and daughter Jessica of Wichita, KS, bonus daughters Crystal Jarvis (Derek) of Port Orchard, WA and Beverly Smith of Newport News, VA. Brothers Jeff Geisert (Jennifer) of Lincoln, NE and Mark Geisert (Lori) of Benbrook, TX. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Hunter and Chase Geisert; Quintrell, DaQuan and Quincia Crockett; Zachary (Abby), Ashlyn, Molly, Micah and Benjamin Jarvis; and Jonathan, Riley and Jadelyn Smith; along with two great-grandsons Cyrus Jarvis and Melli Smith. Nieces and Nephews and many close friends.
Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Newport News VA and Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Faith Lutheran Church, Derby, KS. Both services will begin at 11:00 AM.
