d. Sep 24, 2021
Gregory Alex Chappell, of Hampton, passed from this life on September 24, 2021 at Sentara Careplex. He was born to parents Bobbie and Arnold Chappell, on December 19, 1967. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Ayda Chappell.
Greg is survived by his two children, Alexandra and her husband Cody Winston, Daniel and his girlfriend Juliette; his only grandchild, Coraline Winston; his siblings, Kelly Boswick, Jason Chappell, Phillip Chappell; his girlfriend Cynthia; his nieces and nephews; extended family and dear friends.
Greg loved sports, especially the Miami Dolphins. His favorite past time was watching games with his best friend, Michael Luckey. He was such a big fan he named both of his children after Dan Marino. He obtained his bachelors in Spanish at Christopher Newport University. He taught Spanish for 20+ years, finishing his time teaching at Lake Taylor High in Norfolk. He loved every student he met along his journey. He had a true passion for the kids and love for the language. When he wasn't at the school teaching, he was coaching ultimate frisbee. His love for ultimate truly showed through the long hours and weekends spent dedicated to his players.
Greg was the most loving and caring person you would ever meet. Life was not the easiest on him, but that never stopped the smile on his face. His love for his students and his community never stopped. He was a true gift to the world that can never be replaced.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during these hard times.
