Gloria Mauthe King, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 19th, after a sudden, brief, illness.

Gloria was born in Chicago, IL, and grew up in Cicero and Berwyn, IL. She was a graduate of J. Sterling Morton High School, class of 1959. Gloria has been an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Newport News since 1980, serving in the Altar Guild and in WIGS (Women in Gods Service).

Gloria is survived by her husband of 52 years, Cecil B. King; her son, Cecil II; her daughter-in-law, Meaghan; her grandson Malcolm; nephews Donald, Michael, and Bryan and niece Pattie. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Clara Mauthe; as well as her five older brothers, Robert, George, Clarence, Gilbert, and Donald.

Viewing and Visitation will be at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 210 Harpersville Road in Newport News from 6pm – 7pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023.

Funeral Service will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 765 J. Clyde Morris Blvd, at 1pm, Friday, December 29, 2023.  A reception at the church will follow. A private interment will be later in January.
