George joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Mathews at an early age. He attended and graduated from Thomas Hunter High School, where he was a band member and played the saxophone. You could find George hanging out or sitting on the corner with his buddies Roy, Charlie, Mike and Debbie Combs. He also enjoyed talking to Herbert. George loved going to eat at his favorite food place each morning which was "Hardees". He enjoyed family gatherings and was known for his famous 'chili' recipe during the holidays. In addition, he loved talking about politics and had a passion for cars.
