Obituary

It is with great sorrow that the family of our beloved Gail Harville Lynn ("Puddin"), age 82, passed away peacefully after battling Dementia/Alzheimers on Friday, January 17, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born (Marilyn Gail Harville) on October 22, 1942, in Danville, VA to Ella Oakes Harville and Hansell Harry Harville.

Our "Puddin" was a lifelong resident of Reidsville, NC, until she moved to Newport News, VA in May of 2020 to live with her daughter and family who took loving care of her until her passing.

She retired from UNIFI as a Dye House Clerk 20+ years ago. She was very intelligent and truly a self-starter. She did not complete high school but decided to pursue a GED when offered as a work benefit. Before taking any prep classes, she chose to take the test first to see where she needed to focus on her studies. She passed it with flying colors the first time and was awarded her GED without any prep classes at all. Her family was so proud of her and celebrated with a surprise graduation party. She went to Rockingham Community College for some continuing education courses, building her knowledge of computers, which she was very uncomfortable with in the beginning. She was a very talented seamstress and furniture upholsterer. She was also an amazing baker primarily cakes, but her creativity shined through in all she did. She was a true role model for bettering oneself no matter what age.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and special life-long friends who became family by choice. She had a great sense of humor, many times laughing until she cried. She also loved her church and the roles she served over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Booth Murray (John) of Newport News, VA; son, Arthur Scott Robinson (Cheryl) of Santa Rosa, CA; grandchildren, Mark Edwin Young, II (Sophia), Blake Alexander Young (Kari), Christina Nicole Boyer (Abram), Donna Murray Lusk (Matt), and Stuart Alan Murray; great-grandchildren, Magnus Alexander Young, Thaeden Xavier Young, Kylen Phillip Boyer, Jayce Camden Boyer, Tegan Cooper Boyer, Dawn Cheyenne Crisp, Makayla Diane Lusk; great-great grandchildren, Scarlette Quinn Murray and Isaac Elias Crisp.
She is also survived by her very special friend of 15 years, Paul R. Roach and family, Phillip and Lisa Johnson, Lynn and Karen Roach, Rodger and Judy Roach; dear friends, Carolyn Bean, Cecilia Griffin, and Kay Durham.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ella Oakes Crawford and Hansell Harry Harville; her brother, Harry Allen Harville, Sr. and sister, Connie Harville Moore.
