Frances E. Falls, lovingly known to family and friends as Fran, passed away in her home peacefully on May 9th, 2026 at the age of 80.

Born in New Jersey, Fran was the daughter of Waldo A. Hall and Frances C. Davis. She built a life centered on kindness, laughter, family, and compassion for both people and animals. She dedicated much of her career to animal education and served as an Office Manager with the SPCA, where her deep love for animals shined every day. She had a special affection for opossums and never missed an opportunity to care for or advocate for animals in need.

Fran truly never met a stranger. Her warmth, humor, and enormous heart made everyone feel welcome and loved. Those who knew Fran will remember her generosity, her laughter, her compassion, her playful spirit and the way she loved her family and friends with all her heart. Her presence made life brighter, and her memory will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.

Fran is survived by her husband, Gene Falls; her children, Marie Edwards and Michael E. Falls (Penny); her grandchildren, Lance M. Edwards (Charlene Ras) and Ian M. Falls (Carolyn Cook).

A memorial service celebrating Fran's life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. followed by a time of visitation till 5:00 PM at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Newport News, Virginia. Burial will be private.

In celebration of Fran, we are requesting the ladies wear bright colors instead of traditional funeral 'darks'.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
