Fannie West
Johnson
d. Jan 9, 2021
Fannie West Johnson, 96, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, January 9, 2021. She was born in Gloucester, VA to the late Russell and Bettie West. Fannie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Yorktown and former member of Denbigh Baptist Church.
Family and friends meant the world to her. She lived her life as a testament of her faith and love for the Lord in her daily walk, giving thanks in all things. Her example set a legacy of love that her family will carry on until they are called home to be with her again. If you didn't find Fannie reading her Bible, in church, or giving her time to others, you could certainly find her in the kitchen. She expressed her love through cooking and shared willingly with anyone who visited.
She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Gaile and Mory Bagheri, Deb and Jim Harrison, Nancy and George Lamb; one daughter-in-law Brenda Johnson; one brother Ernest West; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeremiah, Jennifer, Cyrous, Morrison, Stephen, Beth, Sarah, Tyler, Abbey, and Rachel; and nine great-grandchildren, Espn, Lakelyn, Emmit, Addy, Brodie, Hunter, Brock, Lane, and Haddie. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Johnson; a son, Gordon Johnson; and brothers Stonewall, Merton, William, Marion Earl, and Amos West; and a daughter-in- law Cheryle Johnson.
Her life was a blessing to us all and her legacy will forever be one of faith. Her desire was that her family and friends would come to know Jesus Christ as the Lord of their life.
"I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth." Psalm 34:1.
There will be a private graveside service held at Peninsula Memorial Park with arrangements by W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Family and friends may share condolences and memories at www.wjsmithandsonfh.com .
