Ernest Eugene Robens, 70, of Newport News passed away Tuesday, 15th, 2022 at Riverside Regional Hospital due to a short battle with cancer. He was employed with Bush Construction for seventeen years. He was a graduate of Warwick High School and loved with all his heart to fish and to hunt. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Cutchins Robens and Sallie Ora Robens; two brothers Charles E. Robens and Stephen C. Robens, and his amazing 18 year old dog Teva. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Virginia Robens (Nita); a son Charles Clayton Robens; a daughter Malina Lynn Robens; three granddaughters Morgan Hopson, Hailey Robens and Alex Hopson; one grandson Clayton Maddux Robens; one great grandson Mason Kyle Belvin; a beloved sister Ann Sgavicchio of Hanover, VA, and lots of nieces and nephews. His beloved dog "Buddy" will truly miss him. He was known as "Happy" because his first granddaughter couldn't say pappy.

A memorial service will be held at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, March 19th, 2022 at 12:30 PM. Masks are required due to Covid restrictions.
