July 1, 1940 – October 11, 2024

Elizabeth was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1940 to Eduardo Garcia and Lucina Noemi Valdes. She briefly studied business and worked in accounting while in Cuba. Elizabeth married her late husband, Armando Ontivero, in 1959, and they had one daughter, Rebecca Ontivero. Elizabeth and her husband emigrated to Spain, where they lived for 6 years before eventually settling in Newport News, Virginia. She retired from Continental in 1997.

Elizabeth was surrounded by her family during her final days and peacefully entered the presence of Christ, our Lord, on October 11, 2024. She is remembered by the community for her humor, compassion, and deep love for her family. Her life is a testament to American opportunity and family values, and her legacy will live on through her family and the generations to come.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Ontivero, and her husband, Joshua Sanchez; as well as her two beloved grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17th at 6:00 p.m., followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Peninsula Memorial Park on October 18th at 11:00 a.m.
